The President, Christopher Sneath MBE, welcomed 43 members to the RAF Club for the Annual General Meeting of the Hazards Golfing Society. In his greeting he mentioned the two new Hazards attending their first AGM – Jeremy McIlroy and Andrew Rodgers – and wished them a long and happy association with our Society.
Apologies had been received from Past Presidents David Horne and David Spence along with 34 other members many of whom sent there best wishes for a happy meeting.
The Treasurer reported that all was well with finances. The Secretary spoke of the growth of our website, the addition thereto of a shop and, our steady increase in membership.
Duncan Bateman was elected and installed as our Captain for 2018. Mike Roden has taken over from Duncan as Treasurer. Nick Brown and Nick Hayes retired from the committee by rotation after three years in the service of the Society. Richard Morris and Richard Willacy were elected to the committee for a three year term.
John Woods was elected a Life Honorary Member after many years of dedicated service as a Hazard. He has been both Captain and President of the Society as well as playing in many matches and meetings over the years. Our congratulations John and may you enjoy many more years as a Hazard.
The President closed the meeting by reminding the members that our Society needs constant attention if it is to continue to flourish. New blood is a constant need to replace our ever aging membership and urged members to be ever aware of membership prospects that would make a perfect fit into our society.
Forty members then dined in the Hughes room enjoying the usual winter fare.
