Charles Hawkins Cup at Royal Cinque Ports

A bright but chilly day for our first outing post Covid proved quite popular with 24 members and guests signing up for the event.

Things were a little strange with refreshments being taken from a converted horse box, pictured above, next to the practice putting green. The attendees seemed to take all this in their stride and looked as if they enjoyed the challenge of balancing a paper cup filled with hot coffee whilst eating a bacon roll and ordering their lunch.

The morning foursomes were won by Nick Yeates and Tim Thomas posting a very creditable 37 points and pipping Matt Williams and, guest, Mike McCabe with 35 points.

Lunch gathered around the horse box was great fun as competitors made ready for the main event to play for ‘The Charles Hawkins Cup’

The worthy winner was Matt Williams, pictured above, who won on a count back from Tim Thomas with 36 points.

Our Captain presented the winners with their well earned prizes and wished everybody a safe trip home.
