Charles Hawkins Cup at Walton Heath May 2019

Our Day at Walton Heath was blessed with some good weather and plenty of banter.  This date would normally have been Presidents Day but Chris Sneath was celebrating an important birthday and his family had booked him on a cruise.

We shall start with the afternoon result of the friendly foursome.  This was won by Peter Dyson and his guest, Andy Chew with the magnificent score of 41 points.  Lunch must have agreed with them. In second place, some distance behind were Nick Hayes and guest David Lewis.

The important event of the day was played out on the old course for the Charles Hawkins Cup.  Scoring 36 points just one point ahead of Malcolm Thomas in second place was, Mike Roden a wonderful effort in quite breezy conditions

The winner of the Presidents Putter, carried over from the meeting at Deal, saw Richard Pinder come in a couple of points ahead to land his first major trophy since joining the Society.

Walton Heath was in splendid condition and made the Society feel very welcome.  It is hoped that Presidents day will return here in 2020.
