Heavy snow over the UK had meant that our opening fixture was in the balance as we moved into the 2018 season. Finally, I received the good news that the course was fully open with some eighteen hours to spare before the first tee time.
Seventeen members and three guests arrived bright and early in surprisingly good weather albeit just eight degrees showing on the club thermometer.
The morning event was won by Michael Kfouri and his guest Michael Latham with a score of 37 points beating, new member Matt Williams, and Peter Robinson into second place.
The usual wonderful Hankley Common lunch was taken and, surprisingly, the afternoon event got under way on time.
Winners were Hugh DuVivier and Richard Morris with 35 points just beating Patrick Luard and his guest David Tod on 34 points.
Overall it was a fun day, played on a course in superb condition. The only sad point was our lack of numbers.
