Several members of the society gathered on the Friday afternoon for a friendly foursome prior to the drinks party at the home of David and Maurita Horne.  Champagne and ‘nibbles’ were taken before departing to the Fairway Hotel for dinner.

After the meal sides were drawn for the traditional match between The Captain’s and The President’s teams. Unfortunately, the President, Chris Sneath, was not present due to a knee injury so Past President David Spence stood in for him.

Saturday saw a fantastic day weather-wise; a light breeze off the sea and wall to wall sunshine.  The President’s team took an early lead after the morning round.  Bolstered by a sandwich lunch and ample liquid refreshment the Presidents men finished the job in the afternoon.  One slightly sour comment was received from past Captain Alistair Defriez stating that ‘despite winning morning and afternoon he still had to pay for the port’.  No justice Alistair, you were just selected for the wrong team.

The Society hosted the Club Captain, David Richards and John Sanders to dinner in the clubhouse on Saturday evening.  Stephen Moore proposed the toast to the Club and Dave Richards replied with amusing tales of his rugby trip to South Africa with the Lions.  David Horne announced the pairings for the Sunday morning match against the club.

Sunday was another golden day with light wind and sunshine, unfortunately the Hazards lost but – will be back next year to fight again.
