An overcast day saw eight Hazards arrive at St George’s Hill GC to take on a Stock Exchange side who have proved very hard to beat in recent matches.
Following a very acceptable lunch our leader, Richard Norris announce that we would be playing a fourball match over eighteen holes from the yellow tees.
Chris Gems and Alistair DeFriez led the field and managed a very credible half against Robin Mumby and Ian Genwick-Smith. The local members Richard Willacy and Richard Norris gained a point against Charles Dimpel and Rick Noel in a tightly fort match.
Stephen Chappell and Peter Renshaw managed to overcome Mike Harris and Arthur Bryant after the latter moved into an early lead whilst Bill Headley and Derick Fulcher suffered a loss to Mike Bishop and Greg Gayers.
Unfortunately the match ended in steady rain which encouraged players to leave the course as soon as their matches were finalised and put an end to thoughts of a team photograph.
