Blue sky, light breeze and happy golfers welcomed the start of summer at New Zealand Golf Club for our annual match against The Circuit Judges. Both side sported 10 players of equal quality to tee off after a light breakfast and coffee.
Mick Donnelly led our team at this delightful course to an early lead of 3 points to 2 at lunch. All matches proving a tight contest with some going down to the last put on the 18th green.
Lunch was, as ever, a splendid offering to the hungry golfer washed down with some very acceptable wines. It was a real effort to get back out onto the course for the afternoon contest.
Some groups chose to play all eighteen whilst others cut across to start at the 6th tee to play just 13 holes in the hot sunshine.
The Hazards appeared to lunch well as they won all five afternoon matches thereby winning the day by 8 points to 2.
