Our late season fixture against the Elders was a truncated affair this year for obvious reasons. That said some 23 members of both Societies mustered at Hayling Golf Club for a friendly fourball on Tuesday afternoon.
Captain of Hayling, Matt Williams and partner Charlie Tunnadine rose to the take the spoils with 47 points proving that local knowledge really does count.
The day of the match started really badly with heavy rain falling on all venturing out onto the course but it did ease and eventually stopped giving way to sunshine. Given the forecast two days before the event, I think we were very fortunate to play any golf that day.
The Hazards came out as the winners of the ‘Elson Dew Trophy’ with a score of 5 -2 and Captain Peter Dyson was presented with the Salver by the Elders leader Andrew Fenning.
The Captain then took obvious pleasure in presenting a memento to Max Hunt to celebrate 50 years membership of the Society also giving him the good news that he had been made an Honourary member of the Hazards.
