A windy day with the odd shower late on saw the Hazards team lose the first match of the 2019 season by 7 points to 5.
The course showed signs of last year’s long hot summer. The green staff had been working hard to get the course back up to it’s usual standard by applying a healthy layer of seed and sand over slit fairways. All players were issued with small Astroturf mats for use on the fairways and around the greens. Interesting if not a little disappointing for our intrepid golfers.
The morning showed good team effort coming in at 3 points a side but generous glasses of alcohol, and a good lunch, proved our ondoing and we succumbed by 4 points to 2 in the afternoon.
Despite the condition of the course the match was played in good spirit and enjoyed by all.
Our thanks to Mick Donnelly who stepped in to run the match for Nick Brown.
