Played at New Zealand Golf Club Woking – Saturday 22nd April 2017
The Hazards team, managed by Mick Donnelly, assembled at 9am on a wonderful morning at the delightful New Zealand Golf Club. The weather was fine although some cloud cover occasionally took away the early spring sunshine.
Treasurer Duncan Bateman and Richard Blanchflower led the team away at 10am followed by President Chris Sneath and Secretary Stephen Chappell. Unfortunately, both teams lost narrowly to give the Judges an early advantage. Our Captain Stephen Moore and Roger Connor brought some stability and they were complimented by Nick Hayes and Alistair Defreiz; last but not least, our leader Mick Donnelly and Bill Headley who brought in a lunchtime score of 3 – 2 to The Hazards.
The usual wonderful lunch followed, four splendid courses accompanied by equally good wines. A few well-chosen words from both Fabyan Evans, CJ’s organiser, and Stephen Moore sent us on our way to the afternoon round.
There were wins for Bill Headley and Alistair Defreiz, Stephen Moore and Mick Donnelly, Stephen Chappell and Roger Connor and Richard Blanchflower and Chris Sneath. Nick Hayes and Duncan Bateman were unlucky losers giving an afternoon score of 4 -1 thereby making an overall win for the Hazards, 7 to 3. Well done Hazards
