We were blessed by a day of decent weather for our President’s Day at Walton Heath. Both courses were in excellent condition and the greens were both fast and receptive, I think for the impending arrival of the US Open Qualifier rather than the arrival of the Hazards.
Despite covid measures being strictly enforced the day was almost a return to normal. Our lunch was served to us whilst seated and our President kindly provided the wine to accompany our food.
The Salver was won by Richard Willacy with a fantastic score of 39 points with Lawrence Baker following on with 37. The Putter, played from the green tees was won by Richard Morris on a count back from Bruce Bevan-Jones. Well done to everybody for scoring so well on a difficult course.
The afternoon saw the society playing on the New Course for the fun foursomes competition. Tim Taylor and Graham Sutton prevailed with 40 points followed by Messrs Carpenter and Robinson with 37 points an a count back.
Chris Sneath thanked everybody for their attendance and wished them a speedy and safe trip home
